Gianfranco Casuso Lima

Gianfranco Casuso is Professor of Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) in Lima, where he also directs the Critical Theory Research Group. He received his PhD from the Goethe University in Frankfurt with a social-philosophical study on the concept of exclusion. His work focuses on critical theory, political philosophy, the philosophy of economics, as well as theories of democracy and German idealism. He is currently working on the links between classical and contemporary critical theory and Latin American social and political thought. Among his publications are “Marxism, Pragmatism and the Precedents of Mariátegui’s Critical Thought: Reflections on the Emergence of Social Criticism in Peru” (2025) and Filosofía y cambio social. Contribuciones para una teoría crítica de la sociedad y la política (ed., 2022) [Philosophy and Social Change. Contributions to a Critical Theory of Society and Politics].
